Seasonal Heating/Cooling Transition

The decision on when to change between cooling and heating (and vice versa) is difficult every year.  FM looks at weather forecasts and historical patterns in an attempt to pick the best times to make the transition taking energy consumption and occupant comfort into consideration.  Invariably, there will be some warmer days in the spring when we are still heating and some cooler days in the fall when we are still cooling.  FM does its best to minimize discomfort in our buildings but there may be times that a building will be too hot or cold as we make this transition.

For reference, changing from cooling to heating is typically performed over a six week period starting in the middle of October.  Changing from heating to cooling is typically performed over a six week period starting in the middle of April.
