U Are Gold
Each day nearly 500 FM custodial staff work diligently to provide us with a safe, reliable and welcoming environment. Last year Mike Hofer, Custodial Program Manager, led an effort to create and implement a program called “U are GOLD” to highlight and thank those whose efforts are noticed by staff or students. Employees receive thank you letters and the website includes the compliment verbatim. I started reading some of the stories and found them to be truly inspiring. Our customers do take notice and appreciate your work. There are dozens of stories posted on the website, so if you have a few minutes, please take a look. Here’s one sample letter to get you started:
Connie Bongiorno is a Clinical Information Librarian for the Biomedical Library in Diehl Hall (Health Sciences). She had moved to the University from the Mayo Clinic and observed the following about Squad HS-202, Meseret Agza, Alamaz Fetenessa and Manuel Taranco. "I have never experienced such a hard working staff that cleans stacks, floors, carpets, molding, under desks, etc. I leave in the early evening and witness such a dedication to their job and pride in what they do. My career takes in more than 25 years in the industry and I have never seen such a clean and tidy Library. We feel they are a part of the library family."
Open Enrollment for employee benefits will occur Nov. 1 - 30. In addition to Employee Health and Benefit Fairs on each campus, FM is arranging for Benefits specialists to meet with employees on 2nd and 3rd shifts. Watch for more details in this update as well as other venues in the districts.
Drive safely tonight as there will be many trick-or-treaters out walking from house to house. Happy Halloween!
