Meet your wellness goals
The deadline for completing our points for the Wellness Program is August 31. Remember that I’d like 600 FM employees to complete the program – double our rate from last year. I know it’s ambitious, but there are many ways you can earn those final points. Visit the StayWell portal, linked on MyU, to see points opportunities via volunteering, taking a health pledge or watching a video.
And if you have slipped behind in building your points, consider connecting with a wellness coach for up to 250 points. Read how one of the employees from my office reflects on her experience with a coach.
“When the Boynton nurse gave me the results of my biometric screening in April, I was surprised to see that my “bad” cholesterol score had shot up. I was reluctant to start taking medication every day to treat my cholesterol and wondered if I could try something else. I decided to take the leap and sign up for a wellness coach to get more information and support about lowering my score. The coach was friendly and helpful. Since my score had increased so much in just a year, she asked me questions about the foods I ate. I confessed my love for ice cream and that we often had a carton of Ben and Jerry’s in the freezer, which I would need to only eat very occasionally. I didn’t expect the coach to ask if adding fruit to my breakfast 4 times a week was possible. She told me fruit helps improve cholesterol health. Agreeing to this simple goal had an interesting power. During my trips to the grocery, I remembered to buy extra fruit. My family got so accustomed to fruit with our breakfast that now cereal without it is not complete!
I have never worked with a personal coach on a health matter before. I am impressed with how well it worked to help change several unconscious habits, and I received 200 points. I will certainly take advantage of this next year if I have a particular health concern.”
I hope you find some inspiration here to complete your wellness points - good luck!
Have a great week
