Helping Students Turn Green and Medical Cost Relief
Students are moving back to the University this week, and classes begin on September 6th. Our campus will again enjoy the energy that only 50,000 students can provide in bringing the campus back to it’s vibrant life. I can’t thank you enough for all you’ve done over the summer break to clean, repair, and improve the campus for this important milestone.
Helping Students Turn Green in a Good Way
Besides “maroon and gold”, new and returning students will get a good dose of “green.” On Friday we expect about 2500 students to participate in Sustainability Action! on the St. Paul campus. They’ll learn about our new Choose reUse & Win reusable water bottle campaign, Pack & Give Back, ReUse's bike sale, recycling on campus, and other ways to get involved and take action. They’ll also savor a zero-waste barbecue and hear about the U’s commitment to sustainability.
I’d like to thank our Sustainability and ReUse and Recycling staff for collaborating with Dining Services, First Year Programs and other groups to drive this effort.
Medical Cost Relief
Qualified employees have an opportunity to get some budget relief due to the cost of medical coverage. If you are single and earn up to $38,560, or your family income is $67,200 or below, you can receive a payment from $200 to $450. You need to provide a copy of your 2015 federal income tax form and complete an online form. Check here for details and speak with your supervisor. Or call 4-8647 for help. The form is due September 12.
As you encounter students, please give them a warm welcome to campus!
Have a great week.
